Discover the Roger Milla Centre of Excellence Project
A healthcare project for children across Africa
The Roger Milla Program is developing a plan for a specialist hospital in Cameroon. Its ambition is to help children affected by noma, facial differences or congenital conditions access the care they need, regardless of their families' financial circumstances.
Our goal is to build a centre that can welcome children from across Africa and provide care free of charge. To make this commitment sustainable, the medical programme and its long-term funding must still be developed with healthcare professionals, public authorities and project partners.
Care, support and training
The proposed centre could bring together specialist consultations, diagnostic services, reconstructive surgery, inpatient care, rehabilitation and follow-up. Training for African healthcare teams and cooperation with existing health facilities would also be part of the project.
Care for children living with the effects of noma is an intended priority. The centre would form part of the Roger Milla Program's broader work on noma prevention and access to safe drinking water.
What stage has the project reached?
A location in the Yaoundé-Nsimalen area of Cameroon is being considered. The centre is still in the planning stage. The site, medical programme, approvals, final budget and timetable have yet to be confirmed.
The next step is to carry out the necessary medical, technical, land, environmental and financial studies. These will help establish the needs, assess the centre's feasibility and develop a credible funding plan.
Help move the project forward Your support can help the project take these first steps. The Roger Milla Program invites donors, healthcare professionals, institutions, foundations and businesses to contribute to the centre's development.
